the reason for the silence + halloween costume ideas + announcement countdown + photo teaser

Hi guys! I know that since October 3, this blog has been quiet, and I’m really sorry. In the future, I hope to bring you more posts.

But this one is for those of you who have Halloween Block – it’s what I like to call that feeling when you just can’t find a costume. Here is a list of the absolute best costumes possible this year.

  1. Anything from Descendants. I personally haven’t watched it yet, but this seems to be the rage with kids around where I live.
  2. A zombie / ghoul / vampire. If you’re going for scariness and style, like me, you can usually find many costumes and makeup sets that are scary and still gorgeous. Believe me – I know!
  3. One of the Scripps National Spelling Bee #octochamps. I know them all, and if you do go with this one, send me pictures and I’ll send it to them! You also have to admit that this one is going to be hilarious.
  4. A hotdog. ‘Nuff said.
  5. Any DIY costume. DIY-ing is fun, and it’s way more fun if you take the time to come up with an idea that can be easily done. One of my friends DIY-ed a zombie doctor costume last year that was amazing. Comment if you want me to post the steps to that.

That was all I can think of right now, I will totally edit with more. Suggest any below!

And now, you probably saw the announcement thingy.

In 1 week, I will be announcing one the best possible things to ever happen. (If I’ve already contacted you about it, please keep it a secret!)

And you probably saw the photo teaser part too.

Well, here’s the photo.

Didn’t quite get it?

The next post will be full of tutorials on how to DIY decorate for Halloween! This includes this beautiful DIY ghostie that’s my favorite decoration…ever!

Until then, have a great day! I’m sorry this post was so short, but stay tuned for more.

Bye guys! 😀 😀 😀 ❤ ❤ ❤

the long awaited life post that’s just been sitting in my drafts + questions I have for YOU

Hi everyone! Welcome or welcome back to my blog.

I know I’ve been doing a lot of non-lifestyle stuff lately, and that seemed to get pretty well received (between my very, very small amount of followers haha). But I have also had so, so much going on in life recently. I don’t even know where to begin.

First of all, for those of you new followers / readers, you’ll probably not know that my mom’s expecting – due in January! It’s a boy!!!

But for those of you who do, she’s been having more and more ultrasounds, and everything seems to be going well! I can’t wait to welcome my…um…THIRD little brother into the family. That’s quite a lot of brothers! 😂I haven’t even seen him in real life yet and I already love him so much!! In January, prepare for quite a lot of baby pictures and posts.

But yeah, everything’s fine with the baby and I love that.

In other words, well, Tae Kwon Do is going great. This new belt that I’m at has been really fun. I’m seeing old faces every day and connecting with new people that I vaguely knew from before. And a fun little thing – the old class bullies have become quite nice. We don’t know each other too well, but we’re getting to! Grandma, I know you’re reading this – text me who you think it is! And for those of you who do know me, either text me if you have my number or just guess random names in the comments. I won’t mind!

Also in Tae Kwon Do, my 7 year old brother will be testing next week! If he passes (I know he will) it’ll make two Tae Kwon Do graduations in two months! The tests are held every month so that’s basically two in a row.

If he passes, he’ll be testing to green belt, which is my third favorite belt. Someday my brother will catch up to me…

And no, I’m still way, way, way taller than him. I really need to enjoy that while it lasts.

That was a very long Tae Kwon Do rant, so here’s the other parts of my life.

BUT. Before we get there, I’d like to share a last-few-days-of-summer photo!

This was taken by my 5 year old brother on my phone. As some of you may know, I’m really excited for the used GoPro I’m hopefully going to get on my birthday, and it’ll produce way better LANDSCAPE and NON-BLURRY photos. Tell me what you think about this photo in the comments. Is it good? Is it bad? I’d love to hear your opinions.

OK, so back to the life outside of Tae Kwon Do.

Wednesday, October 2 shall be marked as the heroic day that my brother forgot to add water to his mac and cheese. This resulted in a lot of smoke. We had to evacuate the house, it was so bad. Then of course, because my brother and I are just amazing human beings, we opened Spotify on our devices and played the song “Burn The House Down [Clean]” by AJR. We were all on our front porch, so the neighbors just really stared.

And I brought my devices and my spelling studying stuff so I got a lot of studying done while my brothers ran about the block screaming about how there was so much smoke and oh they’re going to die and purposely making it so overly dramatic. Luckily, no police were called. 🙄

I’m going to start voice lessons soon – I’m super excited. This way, I can have training for when my first home recorded album, Take, comes out on December 1, 2019. Mark your calendars so you can hear me attempt to sing.

In the neighborhood, I’d say everything’s going well. My friends are all doing good. There are a few people who I haven’t seen in a while who I really want to talk to soon, so I’m going to text them on Friday to see what they’re up to – possible movie night!

This post has been long for my posts, so I’m going to say goodbye for now and please note – this will be edited. The original draft was at 1:20 am, so it’s not going to make that much sense. Don’t ever talk to sleep-deprived me.

Have a wonderful day / night, and today’s #dailyactofgood (I’ll explain this in an upcoming post) is to give one friend a handwritten note saying something nice about them.

Bye! 😀 😀 😀 ❤ ❤ ❤

the Photoshop battle – an opinionated blog post

First, I want to start off by saying – I don’t mean to offend anyone by posting this. I just want to share my thoughts on this topic.

What is the topic that I’m so opinionated about?

It’s in the title, but for further clarification, I wanted to write something about the dangers of apps like Photoshop if they are used in certain ways.

Most girls and women don’t feel good about themselves. Some men and boys don’t even feel good about themselves.

We’ve always wondered, how can I make myself fit these standards. How can I make my waist smaller, how can I get fit, how can I get rid of the pimple on my cheek, I need to lose weight, all of that.

Then Photoshop came along. Snapseed came along. so many apps like this just appeared out of nowhere.

With clever editing, you can make yourself the epitome of gorgeous. You can post Instagram pictures without spending hours on makeup (even though everyone still does.) You can look amazing. With the right editing, you can turn this:

Into this:

As you can see, it turned from a makeup-free selfie to a heavily edited, airbrushed image of simulated beauty.

What’s so bad about this, though? That’s what they ask.

The thing is, these apps do the exact opposite of what they want the effect to be. Instead of giving you more confidence, they slowly bring your confidence down. You think that you’re nothing without spending hours putting on makeup, trying out filters, and making your photos great.

And you can’t PhotoShop real life, either, which can turn you into an insecure person in real life but an Instagram model who spends hours editing his or her entire face online.

Is that the right way to utilize your time?

Tell me what you think in the comments, I’d love to hear your unique opinions and probably some constructive criticism. It’s ok to disagree! And just so we’re clear, I DO agree with the use of PhotoShop for other reasons, such as making it look like someone’s flying, or editing for a music video or movie.

Bye! 😀 😀 😀 ❤ ❤ ❤

PS: Like this post if you want to see more opinionated random viewpoints from me, or let me know in the comments if you don’t! 😀 As my friend Ellie said – if you don’t follow this blog, YOU WILL DIE. (OK, she was hyped up on sugar at the time, but still. Follow!

i need your opinions + before the blog

Hello fellow human beings. Or aliens. Or evil banana-cucumber-parrot hybrids. Whichever one makes you feel like you.

So, I’ve recently been thinking. (Yes, that is a first.) I’ve been really wanting to highlight my hair, but also I want to see what it would be like if it was cut.

I have wavy hair that only looks straight because it’s elbow length. I’m worried if I cut it it’ll poof up.

But blond highlights, even temporarily, could damage hair.

I want to know what you guys think. Which one should I do? Please let me know, because I really want to do something with my hair.

For those of you who are wondering about my sanity – I’m fine. My mom’s going to talk to a hair stylist about me temporarily or even permanently going blond.

And before you immediately comment “CUT” then I’ll just say that I have had one haircut ever and it was a trim. When I was 6. I don’t remember how it looked but it got trimmed to my shoulders because when I was 6, my hair was only a little past shoulder length.

So, I’m really feeling the hair style changing vibes here.

Please, please let me know. Cut or highlight? And how short should I cut it? What shade of blond should the highlights be.

(blond only because my mom said blue hair isn’t ok for all the things i do but blond is a nice color)

If you guys pick highlight, I’m going to do this without bleach and it should go away after like a month if I do it temporarily. I’m SO extremely confused on what I should do!

Next Section: Before the Blog

I’m a relatively new blogger. When I started this blog, I wanted to express myself through writing or sharing images online. I love blogging and it’s become so much of a passion for me. Blogging is just amazing.

But what was before the blog?

Before the blog, I still did Tae Kwon Do. I still had friends, I still studied spelling.

But I really felt that I wanted to express my feelings, and that they were building up inside me. This isn’t like a depression thing, I just wanted to share my thoughts, dreams, and hopes with readers.

I remember how I found WordPress, and it was a sad story.

If you recall my friend Keya from Tae Kwon Do, the amazing human being who smiles through a sad time, well, there’s more to the story.

Keya had a brother named Rohan. Rohan was a great kid. He was sweet and caring to everyone, and extremely smart.

In September 2018, he was diagnosed with a specific type of brain cancer called pediatric glioblastoma. I didn’t realize. I didn’t know. I thought I was the most important.

I should have known Rohan more. I should have talked to him, played with him, helped him. I miss Rohan. I really do.

In June of 2019, Rohan passed away, exactly one month before his ninth birthday. He battled hard and strong. He was a fighter.

And his parents took to WordPress since the diagnosis to share everything about the battle. Every surgery, emergency hospital visit, every picture and video of Rohan being Rohan.

Rohan’s battle has inspired me. It has pushed me to be a better person and focus on the good things in life.

I clicked that “create blog” button for Rohan Shamit Sikotra. I clicked it so I could share my life with the world too.

Every time I write a post, I think of him. I know Rohan went to heaven. I know he’s sitting up there right now. Maybe even watching me.

This has been a hard post for me to write, but I wanted to write it for Rohan and his grieving family.

rohan.sikotra.com is his story. Please, click the link. For Rohan and for Keya.

the last few days of my life (not in a morbid sense though) + best halloween decoration ideas + fall…

Hi guys! I’m back, sorry for not posting for a while – it’s been such a long few days. Today, I’m going to tell you what’s been going on in my life, and some great Halloween decoration ideas.

Tae Kwon Do has been AMAZING. This belt was well worth the wait. I’ve been reconnecting with some friends of mine from before, and practicing my new curriculum. It’s super amazing to be at this new belt. 😀

Now, I’ve really wanted to rank Halloween decorations, and I think I can now safely say – it’s sorta getting into HALLOWEEN SEASON. People are talking about costumes, someone I know even has theirs already, the pumpkin spice ads are going up, pumpkins are for sale but no one’s bought them yet…

Here is a list of my favorite Halloween decorations:

  1. Spiderwebs. These can be really realistic or obviously fake, but they definitely make the Halloween experience amazing.
  2. Tombstones. These are SO. COOL. I don’t even know how we got through so many Halloweens without them. Tombstones for the win, guys. LIKE THIS IF YOU AGREE.
  3. Pumpkins. You knew they would be somewhere – pumpkins are amazing. They’re literally one of the most iconic things in Halloween, and I LOVE carving jack-o-lanterns with my friends.
  4. Skeletons. These are okay, just not my favorite. But again, another classic Halloween thing.
  5. Spiders. I have arachnophobia, but these are honestly genius. Go spiders!
  6. Fake blood. This can be SUPER messy if you step in it, but honestly it gives me a Halloween feel.

That’s all the decorations I could think of, comment down below if you think of any more!

Next up – I took this excellent picture that just feels so…fall to me.

This photo is courtesy of my 5 year old brother Ferdy who is actually a great photographer.

Also – guess what? My friend Violetta posted her FIRST video on YouTube – check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ef3o5vCd0w&lc=z23dypcbls2zuxp5w04t1aokgsasoifba35g2daatco0bk0h00410

Please watch it! It would mean so much to the both of us.

Sorry to cut this post short, but you could say I have a lot of spelling studying to do. (nihar this is proof that i’m studying)

Bye guys! ❤ ❤ ❤ 😀 😀 😀

not-so-secret note – read the series Keeper Of the Lost Cities. NOW.

where did summer go?!?! / what i think of VSCO culture / first day of tae kwon do at my new belt

Guys. Help. Summer is gone!!! I can’t believe it – it goes by so fast!! How the heck did this happen?!?!?! Today was the LAST day of the pool – soon Birkenstocks will be gone too….luckily mine will fit me next year. For sure.

And all the other summery things are going away too! For example, the summer wreath we had on our door. The flowers…the vacations…the beach…it’s now officially fall.

There are many amazing things about fall too, however. For example – the leaves make great blog photos, and leggings are going to be back in style. @Hannah at the striped plaid did a whole letterboard quote thing with her fall leaves – check it out! https://thestripedplaid.wordpress.com/2019/09/13/9-aesthetic-fall-letterboard-quotes-ft-main-event- usa/ is the link.

OK, so Topic #2: what do I think about the VSCO trend?

For those of you who don’t know, there’s a trend going around based on VSCO girls – just google it, I can’t explain it…

  1. Save the turtles – This one I fully support. Come on guys – save the turtles! I don’t use a metal straw though, so I guess I’m not really acting on the idea…
  2. Overlarge shirts as dresses – Sorry, but this one I hate. I just feel like it’s so weird and odd to be wearing something that isn’t meant to be a dress as a dress. I just can’t pull it off. Sorry guys!!
  3. Seashell necklace – Maybe. I mean, it depends on the occasion. I’m SO not a jewelry person, but when I’m going somewhere nice, it’s pretty cool to have a cute necklace. So, yeah, sometimes.
  4. Birkenstocks – Guilty. These shoes are so comfy and stylish – well worth the price. OK, MAYBE they’re my favorite pair of shoes EVER. VSCO girls have it completely right with these. GOOD CHOICE GUYS.
  5. Scrunchies – I’m sorry but no. I own TWO scrunchies from when I was still a gymnast. These fall RIGHT out of my hair, and wearing like 20 on my wrists is just cumbersome. They’re just not good for me. I don’t pull it off well. But hey, on others they look amazing. I have nothing against VSCO girls, I just wouldn’t want to be one.
  6. Sksksksksk & And I oop- – No. Just no. Sometimes they’re fun to say, but I find it annoying to constantly say them in conversation. Sorry guys!! 😦
  7. Mario Badescu stuff – Haven’t tried it. I have no opinion – it could be good, might not be. I’m hoping it’s good at least.
  8. Hair in a bun – Maybe, I like keeping my hair down, but this doesn’t seem like a must for VSCO girls, sooooo….
  9. And of course – the VSCO app – I honestly don’t know. Haven’t tried it yet, if it’s good then sure, I like it.
  10. Hydroflasks and friendship bracelets – No opinion. Any water bottle is good water bottle. Friendship bracelets, well they’re really cute, I just don’t have a thing for jewelry.

OK, that’s all the VSCO related things I can think of- comment more if you have one I didn’t include. My overall take on VSCO – I am NOT a VSCO girl, but I don’t care if anyone else is. You guys are beautiful as VSCO girls, it really just isn’t my thing at all.

Next up: Yesterdaywas the FIRST day of Tae Kwon Do at my new belt – ahhh!!!

OK, so overall………IT WAS SO GREAT!! For all of you reading this…hi Kate….who want to get to 1st brown belt someday, it was totally worth the wait. Totally. 1st brown belt is really fun and to be honest – I wish I had tested like 5 months earlier. I love it so, so much!

My next class at this belt is tomorrow – or Wednesday. Wish me luck because this is so amazing. It’s so nice to see people who I knew at my previous belt.

After my class, I really wanted to wait for my friends at 2nd brown (my old belt) so me and Anah waited for our friends Kate, Keya, and Will. It was their 2nd class and it was nice to catch up with them because our schedule isn’t that correlated.

SOOOOO….overall – this has been my favorite belt so far. Comment down below if you want to see a few pictures besides this one from graduation on Friday:

This amazing photo was taken right after I was awarded my belt. I was shaking hands with my instructor, Master Pineda. The side of my hair shown is the one without the green stripe at the time.

I really enjoy Tae Kwon Do, and I just found out that I know all the curriculum for this belt already from a seminar I go to on Sundays with black belts, which is nice. No curriculum to memorize, so this belt is about improving my technique.

Thank you for reading – my French is waiting for me, and I have way too much spelling.

Bye guys! ❤ ❤ ❤ 😀 😀 😀

my life so far

Hi everyone! Human, alien, or even nonliving creature or pet, welcome or welcome back to my blog! Here are some events that happened to me over the past few days.

Yesterday, I went to a neighbor’s happy hour! My BFF Eleanor who moved away was there – it was AMAZING to see her, and everyone else too! The neighbor, my friend Ellie, was so sweet and kind to everyone there. Most of my neighborhood friends were there and it was so great to see them all.

Today, I got a new computer! It’s a PC, and so far, I’m loving it. The computer I used to use wasn’t even mine at first, so it’s nice to be able to do whatever I want on mine without worrying about deleting my mom’s files.

Early today, I hung out with some friends from the neighborhood, played video games studied (no I actually did study), and did a little Tae Kwon Do practice.

Today is the last day that our pool is open, so we’re going to go – I’m going to miss the pool, where the heck did summer go??? 😦

Today, I have a challenge for you guys!! 😀

Your challenge today is to brighten up someone’s feelings who is feeling down. It can be anyone. Get creative 😀 ❤

I know this was a relatively short update, more to come soon – have a great day, everyone!! If somehow my brother is reading this, MY COMPUTER IS BETTER THAN YOURS NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY.

Yeah, we were arguing about that.

All computers were created equal.

Anyway, bye!! ❤ ❤ ❤ 😀 😀 😀

graduation

Hello human beings and aliens! Welcome or welcome back to my blog and thank you for reading! Last night was my Tae Kwon Do graduation – I graduated to the last belt before black. And OF COURSE I have an update on it – why? Because that’s the job of this blog.

The format of a graduation is basically, everyone graduating to all different belts performs their form, which is a set of moves designed to be an imaginary fight, or their combinations, another set of moves designed to be an imaginary fight, but in a different way. At my old belt, the one that I left behind at graduation last night, we got a musical form, which is like an imaginary fight set to music. At this belt, I actually know some of the curriculum because of a thing I do on Sundays with black belts! At least I have a heads up going into the hardest belt there is…

But anyway, after all the belts have performed, we have a potluck. My family always brings pizza because it’s the easiest, but no one knows who brings it. It’s actually hilarious to see certain people whom I don’t like and happen to be graduating with me eating pizza they don’t know is from me. And after the potluck, which usually goes extremely late, we head back home and secretly get more food as a family. It’s really awesome.

This graduation, I decided to make a statement, and I went with a green and silver stripe in my hair. It was amazing. Pics should be up soon.

Unfortunately, the brown belts didn’t get to perform Exodus because of a mistake in scheduling. I’m kinda disappointed, but all it means is at the next test I get to, because I’ll be graduating to black belt.

But for now, I’ll enjoy the new belt I have – it’s amazing.

This graduation was really sad for me, for one because it was the last graduation before black belt. Where did the carefree gold belt days go? 😭

It was also really sad because the 1st Brown classes (my new belt) are way different from my old belt’s classes. And two of my absolute best friends at Tae Kwon Do graduated to that belt tonight, as well as another one of my best friends at Tae Kwon Do, who was already at that belt. I’m really sad because I’m not going to be able to talk to them as much.

Luckily, I have my friend Anah going to 1st Brown with me – we’re equally nervous. I can’t wait to see everyone that I knew at 2nd Brown – a bunch of people I know are already there, so that’s awesome!

It’s strange – I should be happy, but I miss being the 7 year old white belt who couldn’t do a sidekick. I miss when one of my BFFs Eleanor started Tae Kwon Do but had to quit when she moved. I miss when I fought with someone I knew over something so unimportant, I don’t even remember what it was.

I guess it’s time for new beginnings, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday at Tae Kwon Do. Hopefully I don’t mess up TOO badly.

Thanks for reading! Got to do yet more spelling! Bye!! ❤ ❤ ❤ 😀 😀 😀

new music video?!?! surprise surprise… / HAPPINESS ABOUNDS RIGHT NOW / graduation later

Hello everyone! Welcome or welcome back to my blog, and thank you for reading! That’s my new intro, by the way. Copyrighted.

So, I’ve kinda always been into photography, video taking, editing, and music. I tried to make a music video this summer, but it turned out pretty awful. And now I have an idea for yet another one. Yay.

But I’m hoping to get a nice camera for my birthday (remember from my list?) and I now have a few more crew members and a better video editing tool. This time, it’s going to look way more professional. Shooting’s going to start on December 1, later than I had hoped but at least it’s something. This time, I’m going to have everything way more planned out – I’m super excited!

The song is My Way by Ava Max – one of my friends introduced me to it and I ❤ it SO much! Ava Max is a unique singer…I feel like someday her fanbase will be as big as Taylor Swift’s, and that’s saying a lot.

My friend Mary is going to kill me again for using this song (😂), but as I said, Mary, AGREE TO DISAGREE. I cannot die young…………..

This is going to be super hard to fit in, what with seemingly endless spelling studying (next year’s National Spelling Bee is going to be so hard), Tae Kwon Do, and voice lessons! However, I’m sure I can find the time.

Or, I’m sorta sure. Not entirely sure. However, I. CAN. TRY. I CAN TRY. I’m pretty busy…

I’m really excited to start practicing for the music video because my plans for the video have a very real feeling, and I have an AMAZING neighbor who’s helping out with the brainstorming, and another few neighbors who agreed to be in the video and help film! They’re all kids, but their parents are totally ok with it, so that’s awesome.

I might need to find a few other people with cameras because we might need to get different angles of things, and I know a few people at Tae Kwon Do who can definitely do makeup and hair – thanks guys!! ❤ ❤

Slightly nervous about this – wish me luck! And also, this is hopefully the start of something great 😀 Music videos could become my passion, although I still hope to go into astrophysics when I’m older 🤞🏻

But yeah, TLDR: I’m doing a new music video that I’m very freaked out about but also excited for! 👩🏻‍💻(that’s me editing the video on my computer)

In other news: My blog has been a bit more popular than usual lately – thank you to ALL OF YOU AMAZING PEOPLE who are following, liking, and commenting – you guys mean SOOOO much to me!! ❤ ❤ I didn’t even think I would have even 1 follower, now I have almost 20?! This is probably nothing to you big bloggers, but to me, the little tiny 10 year old, I AM VERY HAPPY! God bless you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Tae Kwon Do graduation is tonight, I’m hoping to put up a few photos but not entirely sure. I think I’m going to put a pinkish-red streak in my hair for the graduation and see if my friends notice. Or maybe silver, or green. I don’t know yet, but I’m sure it’s going to be amazing.

Bye guys! Off to do too many spelling words for my second appearance at the National Spelling Bee, next year!!! ❤ ❤ ❤ 😀 😀 😀

new dye job (temporary)

Welcome back! I told you I would spray dye my hair, I have lived to the promise. Here are some pictures!

And the link to a video of me showing off my hairdo is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10JTPCUYyhBH5bKUbWEk7gMNmu1Zg_bdV/view?usp=sharing

So yeah, that’s what I’ve been doing. In my opinion, my favorite part of my new hairdo is the silver braid! The spray dye was super cold, but it was totally worth it because now I’ll turn some heads! 😛

I would also like to thank my viewers – I have 1200 hits! This is crazy for me! Thank you all SO much! You guys are so amazing, thank you for viewing again and again and again! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!! ❤

A longer, more in-depth update will come later, but enjoy this small one for now! Have a wonderful day!!!! 😀

❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Bye! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
